You and your family. All of you are overweight and some of you weigh close to or over 300lbs. I am saddened to see this gorging being passed on to your children as a family activity. Your preteens are rolly polly just like you. On a path of destruction, just like you only sadder because you know it and you still are teaching them that it is okay. When I see a family of older adults all weighing in wth at least a hundred pounds of excess fat I wonder what you are thinking. I see you being served by petite Asian women who take away plate after plate and you never recognize the irony. You waddle up for another six helpings.
I love the buffet but I look at it as a wonderful way for me to mix the things i love not to gorge myself. My clients don't have to stay away from the buffet. We have learned that we can have a few mouthfuls of our favorite things the way we like them and we are satisfied.
Perhaps cooking a healthy meal at home together could be an alternative acitivity and at the same time it can teach family members what amounts are healthy. Try eating with blindfolds and sensing when you have had enough to eat.
Look in the mirror before you go on your next buffet quest. You don't have to conquer the nation, just taste the offerings, be satisfied. Live to taste another day.
