I actually feel guilty saying that. Last week I gave myself the precious gift of a Labradoodle puppy. He's almost three months old and weighs about 25 pounds. I absolutely adore him. He follows me just about everywhere but refused to go up or down the stairs to the bedrooms. I wanted him to sleep on his little bed on the floor. Of course that left me with no alternative but to carry him up and down the stairs. It was no easy task. On the way up I felt sciatica in my back and down my leg. On the way down I felt like my knee had torn. I have lost 25 pounds over the last year and all I could think about was how much wear and tear that 25 pounds was doing to my body. I was reminded of the pain on the joints while carrying my puppy. It was a great reminder of how much better I feel and how much easier it is to enjoy walking and any other activities at twenty-five pounds lighter.
After a couple of days of coaxing, the puppy came down the stairs without any help today. Thank goodness.
The Virtual Gastric Band changed my relationship with food long term. It truly has been a life change and it seems to be pretty well cemented into my brain 17 months later. I expect to drop that last ten pounds by spring without dieting and with the help of my puppy.
